CHILCOMPTON ART CLUB - ABOUT US
During the late 1980’s a handful of friends-all interested in art, began to meet together with the sole purpose of sharing and enjoying their varied artistic skills.
Soon the idea of sharing their love of art with others in the community, and also encouraging those who had always wanted to paint but had convinced themselves that they couldn’t, to come along and give it a try.
And so the Chilcompton Art Club evolved and became a club officially on 1st January 1993. Our current membership consists of about 35 members and we are fortunate in having an ideal venue for painting. It is a modern church hall attached to Chilcompton Parish Church of St. John the Baptist, Chilcompton BA3 4HP, which is in a beautiful rural setting with lots of natural light.
2019 CLUB DATES
2019 THE CLUB STARTS UP AGAIN ON WEDNESDAY 9th JANUARY AND FRIDAY 11th JANUARY
WE WILL BE OPEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY DURING 2019. THE ONLY EXCEPTION WILL BE FOR GOOD FRIDAY APRIL 19TH
As indicated above, our "ART YEAR" is now continuous throughout the year.
We hold two sessions each week, on Wednesday and Friday mornings commencing at 10am and running for 2 hours.
The club has several accomplished artists who are always willing to help those who are just beginning or offering advice if requested.
The members are a group of aspiring artists with varying levels of ability who are there just for the pure enjoyment of painting, and the enjoyment of each others company.
Each year we hold an annual exhibition in a local hall - an event that is looked forward to by many in the community and beyond.
We also have a competition each year within our membership on a chosen theme, in addition to which in order to encourage the development of skills and to experience working in different mediums, we organise regular demonstrations and workshops led by professional artists, or our own members.
You will be assured of a warm welcome if you would like to come and enjoy with us the art of painting.
