THE COMMUNITY ART CLUB

CLUB STORY : ABOUT US

During the late 1980’s a handful of friends, all interested in art, began to meet together with the sole purpose of sharing and enjoying their varied artistic skills.
Soon the idea of sharing their love of art with others in the community, and also encouraging those who had always wanted to paint but had convinced themselves that they couldn’t, to come along and give it a try.
And so the Chilcompton Art Club evolved and became a club officially on 1st January 1993. Our current membership consists of about 30 members. The club has several accomplished artists who are always willing to help those who are just beginning or offering advice if requested. The members are a group of aspiring artists with varying levels of ability who are there just for the pure enjoyment of painting, and the enjoyment of each others company.
We also have a competition each year within our membership on a chosen theme, in addition to which in order to encourage the development of skills and to experience working in different mediums, we organise regular demonstrations and workshops led by professional artists, or our own members. You will be assured of a warm welcome if you would like to come and enjoy with us the art of painting.
Membership is open to anyone, if you want to come along just to see us, then you are welcome to just turn up at one of our weekly sessions. Our current venue has a large car park, level access, and good disabled facilities.
